6 Amazing Ways to Feel More Confident

Guest Post by Jack Greener- Psychotherapist

Who doesn’t want to be more confident nowadays? Confidence is an essential part of human personality. While we might think we’re not confident, we all are, at least in front of the people that we’re comfortable with. So, the question arises that why can’t we be same in front of everyone? Why do we find it hard to be confident in interviews or public speaking? When we can’t find the answers to such questions, we start doubting ourselves and go down a toxic path of bullying ourselves. However, the answer to that lies in the different ways that we react to our surroundings.

For example, if you’re comfortable in your skin and you love yourself, you won’t have a problem talking to other people or standing up for yourself. However, if you have low self-esteem and body image issues, you’ll surely be intimidated by people you think are more beautiful or attractive than you. Here mentioned below are six ways to help you feel more confident and persevere in the face of any problem.

1.  Positive Reinforcement

The first thing that you need to do is surrounding yourself with positive people. While this may seem vague, let me break it down for you.  Most of the time, our confidence suffers due to the people around us. Whether it’s in real life or on social media, if we surround ourselves with bullies, we will ultimately end up being less confident and more
agreeable. Make sure that you surround yourself with positive people that help you.

Apart from that, positive reinforcement should also be something you work on yourself. One thing I’ve noticed is that we have become our own worst bullies and that has got to change if we want to become more confident individuals.

  1. Taking Care of Physical Health

The way we look physically also makes us more or less confident. Learn to accept yourself for who you are, regardless of your body type. Rather than trying to be like the models plastered on your screen, the only goal that you should have is to be healthier. As long as you’re healthy, your body type will not matter, you’ll feel the change from inside.

Exercise is one way to get there. However, due to busy routines, we’re often too tired to exercise when we come back. In this case, smoking weed and working out is a great way to get that extra energy you need to pull through working out session. It doesn’t have side effects, and you can enjoy afterwards.

While many people are biased against weed, its various extracts have proven to be beneficial for various health purposes. That is why cannabis has been legalized in many states of the US and in Canada as well.

  1. Taking Care of Mental Health

Apart from physical health, mental health is also a significant factor that affects your confidence. Focus on your mental health, and whenever you think that there is something disturbing, you should try to figure it out.

Be open to help and talk about how you feel and how you think that you’ll feel better. Being open about your problems will make you more confident.

  1. Limited Social Media Time

Another way to make sure that you feel more confident is to limit your media time. While we love spending numerous hours plastered to our screen, we unconsciously internalize the unrealistic and unattainable standards of beauty and perfection. This return makes it harder for us to be at peace with where we are. Know that you are one of a kind and that you can’t be like anyone else because there’s only one of every person. Try to be at peace with yourself and stick to your hustle, you’re going to attain your own path to greatness.

  1. Taking out Time for Yourself

As lives get busier by the minute, we often find it hard to take out time for ourselves. It can lead to anxiety, depression and lack of confidence. Once in a while, try to take out time for yourself so you can evaluate where your life is taking you. You need to live life and enjoy it, and while that is what we should do, we still let our lives pass us by.

A good way to take time out for yourself is to start meditating. Even if it is for 15 minutes, you’ll feel a great difference in your level of confidence while it may be difficult in the beginning; it will surely be worth it. If you can manage to do it on your own, try following an instructor online.

  1. Gratitude

Last but not least, appreciation. Always learn to realize what you have and how far you’ve come from the beginning. Once you know where you stand, always be thankful to those who helped you along the way. Once we start being thankful for what we have, we stop craving for what we do not have. Always look at those people who have less than you and then be thankful that you stand in a privileged position. Once you come to peace with your position, no one in the world can push you down. That is when the way you have is upwards.

If you’ve gone through the article, you now know how to be more confident; all you have to do is take the first step. Know that confidence stems from self-love and self-realization. In order for you to rise, you need to be in sync with the type of person you are and only then, will you be able to rise beyond any difficulty. These steps helped me a lot, while they might have taken some time, the results were worth it. Remember to invest your time in the things that matter and the things that make you a better, more reliable and confident human being.  Confidence stems from within; it is an attitude that you will have to take up not something that is external.
