Introduction to the 12 Chakra System

The 12-chakra system is an ancient healing system that has been used for thousands of years. It is based on the belief that we are each made up of 12 distinct energetic centers or “chakras” which are located along the spine and are connected to different aspects of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. The 12 chakras are divided into three categories: the lower chakras (Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus), the higher chakras (Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown) and the transcendent chakras (Soul Star, Divine Gateway, Earth Star and Causal). These chakras are connected to the body’s energy systems and to the collective energy field of the universe. By working with the 12-chakra system, we can gain insight into our own energetic systems and how they are affecting our lives.

  1. Great article Kimberly. I have only just started learning about the Chakras, I thought there were only 7 but now I see I was wrong! I have read some great articles like this one and https://activatemychakras.com/throat-chakra/ and am learning so much. I have definitley worked out some blockages as I am feeling like a new person lately!

  2. Hi, I would like to know if there is another chakra at the back of the head that is inside the body and works together with brow and crown chakras forming a triangle to activate third eye vortex? Thank you.

    1. There is a chakra at the base of the neck. Some call it the spiritual gateway chakra or the alta major chakra. It’s the gateway to access other spiritual dimensions. There is also a chakra at the back of the head called the Bindu chakra, it holds the life force and helps us gain enlightenment. Since the bindu chakra is connected to the pinneal gland, when it is awkened, the third eye chakra is opened as well, providing us with awareness, psychic and empathic powers, vivid dreams, lucid dreaming, greater creativity, and imagination.
